Adrian W. Jachens, M.D., born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey, graduated from Clifton High School and then earned a Bachelor of Science cum laude from Steven Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. Dr. Jachens then completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ, where he was the recipient of several prestigious scholarships. He completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident his final year. Afterwards, Dr. Jachens completed a fellowship in Cornea, Cataract, and External Disease at the University of Texas–Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he also served as an Assistant Clinical Instructor for resident education.
Dr. Jachens is board certified and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. He has lectured at many international conferences and has published several articles in various peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Jachens specializes in cataract, laser refractive, and corneal surgery. He has extensive experience in laser assisted cataract surgery on both the Catalys and LenSX laser platforms, as well as the advanced technology multi-focal and extended depth of focus intraocular lens implants. He has extensive experience on four different laser vision correction platforms having performed many LASIK and PRK procedures. In addition, he has treated patients with the new presbyopia-correcting corneal inlays. As a fully trained corneal specialist, Dr. Jachens performs full and partial thickness corneal transplants and manages complex corneal and ocular surface diseases such as dry eye syndrome and infections.
Dr. Jachens is married to a fellow physician, Samantha Herman, M.D., who practices Dermatology in Passaic and Hudson counties. They live in Bergen County with their young children, a son and daughter. In his downtime, Dr. Jachens enjoys skiing, golf, volleyball, and traveling with his family.
